Welcome to Farrelly Calf Rearing
For over 20 years the Farrelly Calf Rearing Business has been rearing and selling young calves to buyers all over New Zealand, and in recent years Dairy Heifers to off shore markets.
Located in the Dairy Farming Region of Te Awamutu in the Waikato, the business started in 1991 with the Farrelly’s vision of professionally rearing on a large scale 4 day old calves throught to 3-4 months of age, during which time the calves would become fully weaned onto pasture.
From an initial base in the first year of 40 hectares and rearing 100 calves, the business has rapidly grown to span 400 hectares and rear up to 10,000 calves annually.
Unlike most other rearing operations, the Farrelly business has an extensive area of land meaning the calves are eating pasture from a young age resulting in a calf fully prepared to grow at maximum weight gain once they are ready to leave from 100kg onwards.
While most calves are sold at 100kg, the business is happy to cater for a wide range of buyers, so often take calves through to heavier weights with many Dairy Heifers not sold until rising 1 year of age.
One of the many unique features of the business is that all calves are fed mainly whole milk, with Colostrum and whole milk collected year round off local dairy farmers, ensuring a great healthy start to their lives.
See our stock for sale page. We cater for all sizes and will put large or small lines of even cattle together and organise delivery for you.
